Cyberlogic Releases MBX Driver Support for Schneider Electric's USB Modbus Plus Communications Adapter

August 20, 2007 — Cyberlogic has released an update to the MBX Driver, providing support for Schneider Electric's TSXCUSBMBP USB Modbus Plus Adapter. This adapter provides Modbus Plus connectivity to systems with standard USB ports.

For the TSXCUSBMBP, as with other Modbus Plus adapters, the MBX Driver combines an intuitive configuration editor with plug-and-play convenience and very high performance. Detailed, context-sensitive help is also included. Hardware installation is as simple as plugging the adapter into a USB port or hub, and plugging the Modbus Plus cable into the adapter.

This new driver feature is included with version 6.0.0 + Update 20070615 of all MBX products. Customers with an earlier version can download the update from our updates and service packs page. Schneider has adopted the MBX Driver as its standard for shipment with all TSXCUSBMBP units. However, early versions of the TSXCUSBMBP adapter shipped with driver software that is not compatible with the MBX Driver. If you are using that driver, contact Schneider Electric for a free upgrade.

OPC & DCOM: A Guide to Using Cyberlogic's OPC Server via DCOM

February 6, 2006 — In a networked environment, a key concern of Windows operating systems is security, including the protection of the system against malicious attacks.  As part of this security, Windows checks the DCOM function calls between OPC client and server systems for correct permissions.  If the permissions are not set up correctly, DCOM communication will not be allowed and your OPC-based system will not work.

This paper provides detailed information on how to configure your systems' security to permit DCOM communication.  The discussion covers issues specific to the various operating systems and network architectures you will encounter and includes step-by-step procedures to edit all of the needed security settings.  While this paper is presented in terms of Cyberlogic OPC Servers, the principles discussed apply equally to OPC servers and clients from all vendors.

Windows XP SP2 Compatibility Issues

These issues arose because Microsoft improved Windows XP’s default network security configurations.
